Details: Meet at the Wachmeister Field Station at 4:30 pm and carpool to the Kip Trail Head on Pike Road in Canton. The optional talk will start shortly after 5:30pm at the Field Station.
Description: Join local conservationists for a guided walk and talk to learn how you can help protect hemlock trees from an invasive forest pest called hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA). Participants will attend a guided hike to learn how to search for signs of HWA and report observations using a mobile app followed by an indoor session with more information about conservation efforts to protect Eastern Hemlock to be held at the Wachtmeister Field Station. Visitors are welcome to attend both sessions or just one.
This program is presented by SLELO PRISM, NYS Hemlock Initiative, Nature Up North, and St. Lawrence University.
